Bell is a beautiful 15.1hh, 5-year-old Irish Sport Horse mare with an exceptional temperament and a growing competition record across multiple disciplines. Carefully and correctly produced, she combines a kind, willing attitude with the rideability and trainability to progress in any discipline.
Backed in November 2024 and produced slowly and carefully by myself, an experienced rider who has produced and competed horses up to 1.10m showjumping and Elementary dressage, Bell has already gained experience in dressage, showjumping, cross-country and eventing. She is proving herself to be an exciting prospect while remaining remarkably sensible, straightforward and easy to manage.
What truly sets Bell apart is her attitude. She possesses the sort of temperament that is difficult to find in a young horse. She takes everything in her stride and is genuinely unfazed by new experiences. She recently attended her first one-day event in the 70cm class at a completely new venue, travelling away from home for the first time. The occasion did not bother her in the slightest; she behaved as though she had been doing it for years, producing clear showjumping and cross-country rounds and finishing 5th out of 13 overall.
Bell recently enjoyed a highly successful run of competitions, winning the 70cm Eventers Challenge and finishing 2nd in the 80cm Eventers Challenge, qualifying for the Sunshine Tour Championships at Hickstead in September 2026. She also placed 4th out of 8 in Prelim 5 dressage, demonstrating her versatility and competitiveness across multiple disciplines. Most recently, she finished 4th in the 80cm showjumping with a clear round and 5th in her first ever 90cm showjumping class.
Bell has been produced slowly and correctly, with her confidence, physical development and long-term future always prioritised. While she has attended selected dressage and showjumping competitions, as well as cross-country schooling sessions throughout her education, her competition schedule has deliberately been kept light. Since her very first competition as a 4-year-old, she has consistently demonstrated a brilliant attitude, taking the atmosphere and new environments completely in her stride. She was initially taken to competitions simply to gain experience and have positive outings, rather than to chase results or progress quickly through the levels. As a result, she remains a relaxed, willing and enthusiastic young horse who genuinely enjoys her work and takes new challenges in her stride. Having established a solid foundation and gained valuable experience, she is now ready to continue progressing with her next rider and fulfil her considerable potential.
Bell has also participated in several university and industry research projects involving biomechanics, saddle fitting, nutrition, massage and rider analysis, where her sensible temperament and willingness made her an ideal participant. As part of these studies, she has been fitted with a wide range of specialist equipment and sensors that many horses would find unusual. Bell has consistently taken everything in her stride, standing quietly, accepting unfamiliar equipment without concern, and proving herself to be exceptionally sensible, adaptable and easy to work with.
Under saddle, Bell is genuine, straightforward and willing. She is ridden in a snaffle at all times, is responsive without being sharp, and is not strong, silly or complicated. She works in a soft contact with three balanced paces and is establishing a correct foundation on the flat. She has started lateral work, including leg yield and shoulder-in, and continues to improve with every session.
Over fences, Bell is brave, careful and honest. She is not bothered by fillers, takes new questions in her stride, and has shown a natural technique over a fence. Cross-country, she confidently tackles ditches, steps, water and a variety of solid fences with a willing attitude.
She hacks happily alone or in company and is good in traffic, including lorries, tractors, cars, cyclists and motorbikes. She is not spooky or reactive and genuinely enjoys her work.
On the ground, Bell is a pleasure to have around. She is easy to catch, groom, tack up, clip, shoe, load and travel. She has excellent stable manners and is polite, kind and straightforward to manage day-to-day.
Bell would suit a competent amateur, ambitious Riding Club member, Pony Club rider or grassroots eventer looking for a genuine young horse with an exceptional brain and all the ingredients to continue progressing in dressage, showjumping or eventing.
