Not for a novice rider as he is sensitive and likes his rider to stay quiet in the saddle.

Gatsby is a very true to type Fell pony, 141cm LHC, he has all the qualities you would want with movement to match. He has been shown at the highest level gaining 4th at HOYS in 2025. 

Although he is everything you would want in a Fell pony to show under saddle he does not enjoy this job. We are looking for him to find his forever home who will give him the varied life that he loves. He needs a competent teenager or small adult, he is very safe to ride but like most fell ponies does have his opinion on life so wouldn’t suit a novice home. 

Gatsby lights up in the school when you put a jump up, he seems to love jumping but as a flat showing team this isn’t something we have perused. 

In the stable you couldn’t ask for a nicer pony, he will stand for hours being groomed, he stands for the farrier, physio and dentist with no bother. 

He loads/travels/stands on the box happily eating for as long as needed. 

We are looking ideally for a home that will give him a varied life, full time showing at the top level is simply not his thing. As a pony that will do almost anything with a smile on his face he is worth his weight in gold.

A very sad sale due to loss of interest of this very talented gelding.

Would ideally suit someone looking to produce for eventing or continue showjumping.

We have had Romeo for just over 2 years from when my daughter was 12, Romeo was a show pony so was all front end and no back end, so my daughter has spent a lot of time building him and strengthening him up to what he is now, he isn’t a finished article but has all the talent in the world!

We get told all the time what a brilliant eventer he would make, however this isn’t of interest to my daughter, Romeo however loves XC being able to use his big strides freely.

Romeo can work quite nicely, again he is working to my daughter’s level so with some more work he would do well in the dressage area too.

Romeo is kind and gentle, he is easy to clip, show catch load etc

Very easy to handle around the yard, my daughter has always done him since she was 12.

Hacks alone and in company, again my daughter just goes off on her own hacking.

She trains him 1’10-1’15s and hasn’t long started doing BS where being honest she has taken some poles at the smaller heights at 90-1m we feel he is more respectful of the bigger jumps, as when he trains over the bigger heights he doesn’t touch a pole.

Romeo, isn’t a finished article, he is so talented and Ruby has done so well to get him to where he is however now she’s lost interest I’d love for him to find a home where he can be that fantastic final version of himself.

He is such a character and always turns heads wherever he goes. He competed successfully in the mini majors at the international 4* at bicton coming 3rd with their team jockey.

I wouldn’t say Romeo is for a nervous or novice rider. We want him to go somewhere who loves XC and a varied life and to really exceed in his talents.

My daughter will be heartbroken to see him go as she loves him very much, however her love for the sport for what he needs is just not there anymore.

So if your looking for a talented full up 148 that you can still put your stamp on and work your way to eventing or through the bs Chanel’s he is your man.

Up to date with jabs, maintenance back treatments. Dentist, shod every 7 weeks etc

Romulus d’hurl Vent is a complete gentleman who is kind and calm. He is super talented and excels in all disciplines. He has been a pony of a lifetime for my two sons who have done everything with him. He is exceptionally well schooled and a careful jumper. He steps up and steps down for both of my sons and has taken them both seamlessly from unaffiliated SJ to BS. He is 143cm and 21 years old.

He has excelled in dressage, show jumping, arena eventing and eventing and is a true allrounder. Prior to us owning him he had a BE90 record and has had hunted. We have mainly concentrated on Pony Club (including camp and rallies), BS, BS Kent Academy and NSEA.

He is an absolute joy to have on the yard and is good to catch, hack, shoe, clip, travel (trailer or lorry) and in open spaces.

This is an extremely sad sale and one which we have been putting off for a long time but Rom has so much more to give and is wasted as he is hopelessly outgrown. He will only go to the very best of homes. References will be taken and of course we have references available for Rom.

He will come with all his tack (bridle, GP saddle and dressage saddle) and a full wardrobe of rugs and boots etc.
